Yggdrasil (first 4 images in this series)
Yggdrasil is the life-sustaining World Ash Tree in Nordic mythology, whose destiny determines the world's end.
In Wagner's Ring cycle, when Wotan breaks off a branch to fashion his spear, the tree dies from its wound. Finally, in Götterdämmerung, Wotan has the tree cut down to provide kindling for Valhalla.
These 4 images explores some of the ecological resonances.
